Things to do in NYC: Popular NY Attraction The Museum of Modern Art Acquires a Collection of Posters from the Occupy New York Event

Some new art work now will now Occupy space at the Museum of Modern Art. The NY Attraction has recently acquired a collection of 31 screen prints of posters that hung throughout the city during the 2011 Occupy New York Event. A Museum of Modern Art curator said the works are important because they are an embodiment of what was happening in New York during that time.

The new collection is not yet on display and no immediate plans have been announced regarding an exhibit. Visitors can still see the posters, however, by visiting the Museum of Modern Art’s study room. Along with this new acquisition, visitors to the study room will have access to more than 75,000 drawings, posters and more.
One of the most recognizable posters in the Occupy collection is titled General Strike. It was created by artists John Leavitt and Molly Crabapple with inspiration coming from the London Matchstick Girl Strike, which took place in the late 19th century.
The Museum of Modern Art houses one of the world’s top collections of contemporary art which includes 150,000 works and 22,000 films.
